Al Green just lost a Democrat primary by 37 points to a 38-year-old he'd never met in Congress before this year.
Now he's spending his final days in Washington, DC screaming "shut up" at Cabinet secretaries.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin walked into a budget hearing Wednesday and got that reception instead.
The Meltdown That Ended a Career
Green opened his time at the House Homeland Security Committee by holding up a photo of the moment Mullin – then a senator – reached for Green's sign at Trump's State of the Union earlier this year.
Green accused Mullin of racism for trying to take the sign.
When Mullin tried to respond, Green cut him off.
"Shut up," Green said.
Mullin kept talking. Green escalated.
"Reclaiming my time. Ask him to shut up. It's my time. Tell him to shut up," Green demanded, appealing to the Republican committee chairman to silence the DHS Secretary.

Chairman Andrew Garbarino gaveled the room and told Green to stop attacking people's character.
Mullin got in the last word anyway.
"Evidently, his constituents heard enough of him because they voted him out," Mullin said.
He wasn't wrong. On May 26, Menefee beat Green 69% to 31% – a landslide in a Houston district Green had represented for over 20 years.
Six Impeachments, Zero Victories
Green has tried to impeach Donald Trump at least six separate times.
He has been physically removed from Trump's address to Congress two years in a row – once for shaking his cane from the gallery, once for waving a sign on the House floor before being escorted out by the Sergeant-at-Arms.
Every stunt generated a clip. Every clip generated outrage.
None of it moved a single vote.
His fellow Democrats tolerated the theatrics when they served a purpose.

In March, ten moderate House Democrats actually joined Republicans to formally punish Green for his conduct, throwing the House into procedural chaos rather than defend him.
His own party was done with him before his constituents were.
When the Texas legislature redrew district lines and forced Green into a race against freshman Rep. Christian Menefee, Democrat voters in Houston made their choice fast.
Menefee won the first round by two points, then demolished Green in the runoff.
What Mullin Does Next
Green is an 80-year-old lame duck screaming at a 48-year-old former MMA fighter confirmed to his post by the United States Senate 54-45.
Mullin built a plumbing company from scratch into the largest service operation in his region of Oklahoma, spent 13 years in Congress, and was confirmed with bipartisan support – including Democrats who told colleagues they considered him a friend.
Green's response to that record was to call him a racist and tell him to shut up on national television.

Political commentator Benny Johnson watched the clip and saw exactly what it was: no argument, no facts, no substance – just a man throwing a tantrum because he had nothing else left.
The RNC called it "UNHINGED."
Libs of TikTok celebrated his exit.
Mullin walks out of that hearing room and goes back to running the Department of Homeland Security – securing the border, enforcing immigration law, doing the work Trump sent him to do.
Green goes back to Houston.
Trump said it best when he swore Mullin in: everything he touched turned to gold.
