Al Gore told America the ice caps would be gone by 2013.
Now he's predicting an ice age – and gave himself 25 years to be wrong again.
He set the new deadline just far enough out that he won't live to answer for it.
The Track Record Hollywood Forgot to Mention
Gore headlined the Sustainability in Entertainment Honors in Los Angeles Thursday – a room packed with Netflix executives, Hollywood agents, and television producers applauding their own commitment to the planet.
Nobody mentioned the scorecard.
An Inconvenient Truth made specific predictions with hard deadlines.
Gore said the Arctic Ocean would lose all its summer ice by 2013.
It didn't.
He warned that Mount Kilimanjaro would be snowless by 2015.
It wasn't – the mountain still catches more annual snow than residents of America's snowiest cities.
He showed Americans visualizations of New York City and Miami submerged under 20 feet of rising seawater, promised to arrive "in the near future."

Twenty years later, both cities remain above water.
At the Copenhagen Climate Conference in 2009, Gore told the world there was a 75% chance the entire north polar ice cap could be ice-free in summer within five to seven years.
The scientist Gore cited – Naval Postgraduate School professor Wieslaw Maslowski – immediately told the London Times he had no idea where that figure came from.
"I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this," Maslowski said.
Gore's office later admitted the 75% figure was a "ballpark" number from a private conversation years earlier.
None of that came up at the Hollywood celebration.
The New Prophecy and the Perfect Escape Hatch
Instead, Gore stood beside The West Wing actor Bradley Whitford and warned that a Gulf Stream collapse was a very real threat within the next 25 years – which he described as a potential trigger for catastrophic climate reversal.
The setup was almost artistic.
Whitford pushed for a tighter timeline, suggesting an ice age could arrive in ten years without Gore's energy policies.
Gore pulled back.
"No, no, no. It would take longer," he said, admitting in the same breath, "I'm not the expert."
He's not the expert – but he's been the prophet for 20 years, and he just set a new deadline that conveniently arrives long after a 78-year-old man would expect to answer for it.
And yet at the same event, Gore insisted his original doomsday predictions from An Inconvenient Truth "were proven dead right."

This Is How the Climate Grift Works
Gore's Nashville mansion consumed more electricity in a single month than the average American family uses in nearly three years, according to a National Center for Public Policy Research analysis of public records and Nashville Electric Service billing data.
He lectures Americans about their carbon footprint from that address.
The Hollywood crowd that gave him a standing ovation Thursday flew into Los Angeles on the same planes they'll spend the next decade demanding you give up.
A Paradise writer named Stephen Markley complained from the stage that even after 16,000 homes burned in Los Angeles, studios still won't greenlight his climate content.
Nobody in the room connected that complaint to the event they were already attending.

This is what an Oscar-winning documentary and two decades of apocalyptic warnings buys you – the ability to be wrong about everything, on a specific timeline, with specific numbers, and then stand before a new audience demanding they treat you as the world's most credible voice on planetary survival.
The predictions failed.
The mansions stayed.
The warnings got louder.
And the new deadline was set just far enough out that nobody in that Los Angeles ballroom will ever have to explain why this one didn't happen either.
