Adam Schiff weaponized his position on the Intelligence Committee during Donald Trump’s Presidency.
As a result, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy just removed Schiff from the Committee.
And Adam Schiff flew off the rails when Matt Gaetz mocked him with the title of resolution.
Before the Midterm elections, then-House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy promised to boot Adam Schiff from the Intelligence Committee, should he become the next Speaker.
As then-Chairman of the Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff abused his position to spread lies to the media about Donald Trump allegedly colluding with Russia.
But the Russian collusion hoax was not Schiff’s only abuse of power.
He also fabricated the Ukraine impeachment hoax, even colluding with a whistleblower from the CIA to try and take down Donald Trump.
But now that Republicans are in the majority and Kevin McCarthy is Speaker of the House, Adam Schiff’s days of weaponizing the Intelligence Committee against his political enemies are over.
Of course, Schiff reacted with outrage over being removed from the Committee.
In a statement, he accused McCarthy of “capitulating to the right-wing of his caucus, undermining the integrity of the Congress, and harming our national security in the process.”
But Congressman Matt Gaetz is going one step further than Kevin McCarthy.
On Friday, Gaetz introduced the “PENCIL Resolution.”
PENCIL is short for “Preventing Extreme Negligence with Classified Information Licenses Resolution,” which is a reference to former President Donald Trump’s nickname for Schiff.
Gaetz’s resolution expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that Schiff should not have access to classified information.
But it goes one step further by calling for an investigation into Schiff by the House Ethics Committee and officially striking his comments made during any proceeding regarding the Russian collusion hoax be officially struck from the record.
“Congressman Adam Schiff led the effort for years to weaponize lies from the Clinton campaign and a corrupt Department of Justice to smear President Trump while destroying any trust the country had left in America’s intelligence agencies,” Gaetz wrote in a statement. “Speaker McCarthy kept his promise to remove Rep. Schiff from the Intelligence Committee, and with the PENCIL Resolution, we will express the sense of Congress that he should be barred from accessing any classified information at all,” the statement continued, adding that “he can no longer be trusted by his colleagues in Congress or the American people.”
Adam Schiff spent the past six years abusing his position and weaponizing the Intelligence Committee against Donald Trump.
But Speaker McCarthy and House Republicans are working to make sure Schiff never abuses his position again by stripping him of his power and ability to access classified information.
