Most Democrats are ecstatic that Kamala Harris is at the top of the ticket.
But not everyone shares this unbridled enthusiasm.
Now, a vulnerable Democrat is running scared from this connection to Kamala Harris.
Ohio Democrat Senator wants to erase his ties to Kamala Harris
U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is facing the toughest race of his political career this year.
He’s watched the ground shift beneath his feet since he was first elected in the 2006 Election.
Ohio has moved from being one of the biggest swing states in the country to turning an increasingly dark shade of red.
Brown is the latest Democrat left in Ohio elected to statewide office.
This year, Brown has to share a ballot with former President Donald Trump, who carried Ohio by eight points in the 2016 and 2020 Elections.
Brown has been a down-the-line vote for Democrats dating back to former President Barack Obama.
That’s why he’s running from his left-wing record and Vice President Kamala Harris this year.
Harris isn’t coming to campaign for him in Ohio, and he’s skipping the Democratic National Convention this year.
Sherrod Brown is trying to fool voters about his record
Ohio Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno – who’s backed by Trump – slammed Brown for trying to hide his ties to Harris.
“He’s hiding from her . . . As a business guy my whole life, there’s some things about politics that don’t make any sense for me,” Moreno told Breitbart. “This is a guy who gave Kamala Harris a full-throttled endorsement, says he loves her for so many reasons, but then won’t campaign with her, won’t go to the convention because, of course, he’s trying to fool voters.”
Harris and Brown were friends when she served in the Senate from 2017 to 2021.
Moreno said the challenge was exposing Brown as a fraud to voters.
“He supports everything about Kamala Harris but then, on the campaign trail, pretends he’s a moderate, so we’re gonna expose him,” Moreno said. “This guy’s right up there being a radical leftist.”
There are no moderates left in the Democrat Party, according to Moreno.
“As you know, Mike, there’s not a lot of normal Democrats that are really speaking up these days,” Moreno explained. “Their party is totally and completely controlled by the furthest extreme in their party — people like Kamala Harris, Sherrod Brown. It’s just about exposing them.”
Brown reinvented himself as a moderate who allegedly cared about border security and worked with Trump to crack down on China.
Moreno said that the media is trying to portray Brown and Harris as moderates to voters.
“But, as you know, the majority of the media is on the other side,” Moreno said. “They cover up for them.”
Brown’s luck might be finally running out this year.
He’s run for re-election in the past when Ohio was considered a competitive state.
This year, he has to share a ballot with Donald Trump in a state that continues to grow increasingly difficult for Democrats.
