Alvin Bragg is taking fire from every direction.
Even members of his own party are turning on him.
And this top Democrat dropped the hammer on Alvin Bragg in one shocking way.
Former New York Governor David Patterson slammed Soros-funded District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s decision to bring manslaughter charges against 24-year-old Daniel Penny in the death of mentally ill homeless man Jordan Neely.
Neely – who has been arrested 40 times and was on a list of the city’s 50 most at-risk homeless people – was terrorizing passengers on the subway when Penny restrained Neely with the help of two other bystanders.
Neely later died and leftists like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seized on the incident to create another George Floyd situation since Penny is white and Neely was black.
Bragg caved to the pressure brought on him by Ocasio-Cortez and others and charged Penny with manslaughter – which carries a 15-year prison sentence – after police initially let Penny go without arresting him.
In an interview with host John Catsimatidis on the “Cats Roundtable” on WABC 770 AM Patterson blasted the decision to arrest Penny noting that the former marine was just trying to help people he thought were in danger from a mentally ill man.
“[Penny] did something because he saw danger for other people and tried to prevent it,” Patterson stated.
“He did not meet the threshold where you charge someone,” Patterson added.
Patterson explained that what happened to Neely was a terrible tragedy but the facts of the case do not warrant murder charges or show that Penny executed Neely.
“[Penny] put him in a chokehold. He didn’t, apparently, do it in the right way . . . Because of that [Neely] . . . was struggling. Two of the passengers helped, and in the process of trying to restrain him, he lost his life, which is a terrible tragedy,” Patterson continued.
“But trying to assess this as an execution, or as if it was done by the police rather than a private citizen, is going way beyond what is reasonable under these circumstances,” Patterson concluded.
Soros-funded District Attorneys like Bragg’s refusal to enforce quality of life laws and the Left’s insistence on emptying mental institutions led to this horrible event.
That is the real story Bragg and other liberals want to distract from.
But even more mainstream Democrats are coming around to the conclusion that Soros-funded DAs who let criminals and the homeless run wild on the streets are a political liability and are starting to speak out.
