The Left spent years screaming about threats to democracy and freedom of the press.
Then a man walked up to a Breitbart reporter at a "No Kings" protest in Pennsylvania and said, "I will f***ing kill you."
And the silence from the people who claim to care about press freedom is deafening – because the reporter works for the wrong outlet.
What Happened in Jim Thorpe
Breitbart video producer Matthew Perdie was covering a "No Kings" protest in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, on March 28.
He approached an elderly woman carrying a "Hands Off!" sign and asked her a simple question: "What was that about?"
That's when it fell apart.
A man blowing a whistle physically pulled the woman away from Perdie.
When Perdie noted he'd been physically checked, the woman screamed an obscenity at him.
A second man in a yellow safety vest then moved in.
Perdie told him: "Now you're touching me."
The man's response: "I am and I will f***ing kill you."
Not a misunderstanding. Not a heated moment that got away from someone.

A direct, on-camera death threat against a journalist covering a public event on a public street.
No arrests were reported.
This Isn't the First Time
Perdie has covered "No Kings" demonstrations since they launched in June 2025, including events in Manassas and Alexandria, Virginia, that drew between 800 and 1,000 attendees.
At those earlier protests, speakers officially called for peaceful demonstration.
The messaging didn't hold.
Activists showed up with signs reading "86 47." When one woman found out Perdie worked for Breitbart, she gave him the middle finger.
The pattern is consistent across every event he's covered.
The peace talking points are for the cameras. The hostility is for the reporters who show up.
Who Is Actually Behind the No Kings Movement
Fox News Digital investigated the funding behind Saturday's nationwide protests and found a network of approximately 500 organizations with an estimated $3 billion in combined annual revenues driving the operation.
This is not a grassroots movement.
The permit for the flagship march in St. Paul, Minnesota lists Indivisible – a Democratic political advocacy organization funded by George Soros – as lead coordinator.
Fox News Digital also identified a parallel network of socialist and communist organizations funded by Neville Roy Singham, an American tech tycoon and self-described communist living in China.
Singham has spent nearly a decade financing groups including the People's Forum in New York, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, the ANSWER Coalition, and CodePink – whose co-founder Jodie Evans is Singham's wife.
These groups didn't just participate in Saturday's protests. They openly circulated messaging about using the demonstrations to advance what they called "revolutionary" organizing.
One post said it plainly: "Turn a day of protest into long-term gains for the people's movements."
The violence Saturday confirmed where that logic leads.
In Portland, masked protesters wrestled DHS officers to the ground and hurled objects at law enforcement. Demonstrators breached an ICE facility's front gate and burned an American flag.
A man climbed onto the facility's roof before being arrested on criminal mischief and trespass charges.
In Denver, nine people were arrested after protesters ignored dispersal orders and threw smoke canisters back at officers.
The Press Freedom Crowd Has Gone Silent and You Know Why
Nobody threatened to kill a CNN reporter on Saturday. Nobody shoved an MSNBC producer.
And if they had, the Committee to Protect Journalists would have issued a statement by Sunday morning, Columbia Journalism Review would have run a 2,000-word essay by Monday, and Jake Tapper would have devoted a segment to it Tuesday night.

The "No Kings" movement is funded by Soros money, coordinated by Indivisible, and staffed by people posting Stalin imagery and Soviet symbolism on social media the night before the protests.
Their message of "revolution" is not a metaphor. When a reporter shows up to document what they're actually doing, the death threats come out.
Perdie kept filming. That's what reporters do.
The man who threatened to kill him hasn't been charged.
The press freedom organizations haven't said his name.
And the same outlets spending this week writing about Trump's "threats to democracy" couldn't find five minutes to cover a man on camera threatening to murder a journalist for asking a question at a public protest.
Chuck Schumer held a press conference this week about protecting the free press.
Someone should ask him about Matthew Perdie. Specifically. By name. And watch how long it takes him to change the subject.
