South Carolina Democrat Congressman James Clyburn has been one of Joe Biden’s biggest supporters and allies over the years.
Joe Biden would not have won the 2020 Democrat Primary if not for James Clyburn’s endorsement.
But Democrat James Clyburn caught CNN viewers by surprise with this shocking admission about the January 6 prisoners.
There’s less than six weeks left until Joe Biden’s time in the White House comes to an end.
But Joe Biden is not resting on his laurels over the next six weeks.
He recently set off a firestorm when he backtracked on his word and issued a blanket pardon for his son Hunter that covers an entire decade.
Many Democrats and members of the left-wing media are outraged at Joe Biden for going back on his word.
But not James Clyburn (D-SC).
In an interview with CNN’s Laura Coates, Clyburn admitted that he is the one who encouraged Joe Biden to pardon his son.
“I am absolutely okay with it,” Clyburn said.
“I don’t know how many people urged him to do so, but I did,” he continued, before adding, “because I know he was targeted.”
“We all know that, but for the fact that he’s Joe Biden’s son, he would never have been taken through these gyrations,” Clyburn told Coates. “And so, I told him, the last time I talked to him.”
Of course, Democrats and media elites who are not happy about the pardon only feel that way because of Donald Trump and his supporters.
They’re concerned that Donald Trump will use Biden pardoning Hunter as justification for freeing all of the January 6 prisoners and pro-life Americans locked up by Merrick Garland.
But James Clyburn sees it differently.
On Monday, Clyburn appeared for an interview on CNN’s News Central where he discussed the possibility of Trump issuing pardons.
Surprisingly, Clyburn encouraged Donald Trump to “pardon whomever he wishes to pardon.”
“That’s up to the President,” he said, before adding, “I favor the pardon system.”
Clyburn then put jaws on the floor when he admitted that some of the January 6 prisoners may have been unfairly arrested and prosecuted.
“So, if you go on a case-by-case basis, you look at all of those people, some people may have gotten caught up in the emotion and maybe a pardon for them would be okay,” he said.
However, Clyburn made sure to parrot the narrative about violence on January 6.
“But if you’re using the American flag, plunging at the law enforcement officers, you have injured a law enforcement officer, and you’re spraying whatever the stuff was they were spraying on people, those people should not be pardoned,” he said. “And so, yes, go case by case, and there may be some people who got caught up and give them a pardon.”
Donald Trump has promised to issue pardons for pro-life Americans and January 6 prisoners on his first day in office.
Only time will tell whether or not Trump issues a blanket pardon or does it on a case-by-case basis.
