The Republican establishment wants to bury the nomination of Pete Hegseth.
A major fight is underway to make sure that doesn’t happen.
And an Army pilot gave one brutal reality check to the establishment about Pete Hegseth.
House Republican predicts that Pete Hegseth will be confirmed
President-elect Donald Trump nominated Fox & Friends Weekend host Pete Hegseth as his Secretary of Defense.
Hegseth, a combat veteran with the Army National Guard, was tapped by Trump to make sweeping changes to the Pentagon.
The Fox News star wants to rid the military of wokeness and return it to its mission of combat readiness.
Establishment Republicans in the Senate have balked and are digging in their heels for a fight over the nomination.
Representative Wesley Hunt (R-TX), a West Point graduate and former Apache helicopter pilot, predicted that Senate Republicans would confirm Hegseth during an appearance on Newsmax’s Carl Higbie Frontline.
“President Trump was given a mandate by the American people,” Hunt said. “And who he picks to be his secretary is who we must support. And Pete Hegseth will be the next Secretary of Defense.”
Hunt worked with Hegseth on the Modern Warriors show on Fox Nation before he ran for the House.
“He gave me a shot before anybody knew who I was, and I can tell you he’s a good person,” Hunt stated. “I can guarantee you that when he is the Secretary of Defense, he’s going to be working for our military.”
Pete Hegseth wants to make changes to the military
Hunt said that Hegseth would refocus the military on its mission of national defense.
“We’re going to get war fighting back into our military,” Hunt explained. “We’re going to transform the academies and get us back on focus to what we need as a nation to protect us and to protect our allies.”
The Texas lawmaker told the Senate Republicans that they needed to trust Trump’s judgment on his cabinet nominations.
“We have to trust President Trump’s decision-making ability in this process,” Hunt said. “He ran one hell of a campaign this past year to get us here. We have the Senate, we have the House, we have the presidency because of him.”
“It’s up to the boss to determine who he thinks is going to be the best team to put the America First agenda back in order,” Hunt added.
Hegseth is the victim of a character assassination campaign from the Washington, D.C. Swamp that wants to keep the status quo at the Pentagon.
Trump told NBC’s Meet the Press that he had 100% confidence in Hegseth calling him a “smart guy.”
“Pete is doing well now, I mean, people were a little bit concerned,” Trump explained. “He’s a young guy with a tremendous track record. Actually went to Princeton and went to Harvard. He was a good student at both, but he loves the military, and I think people are starting to see it. So we’ll be working on his nomination, along with a lot of others.”
The Swamp will fight tooth and nail to keep anyone out and could bring real changes to Washington, D.C.
