Tucker Carlson was the biggest name in cable news when he was at Fox News.

He clashed with some of his coworkers over his support for the Trump agenda.

And Tucker Carlson was blindsided when a Fox News rival made this stunning announcement.

Chris Wallace cites Tucker Carlson for leaving CNN

CNN host Chris Wallace announced that he was going to leave the cable news network when his contract expired.

He served as the host of Fox News Sunday from 2003 to 2021 before he departed for a show on the now-canceled streaming service CNN+.

Wallace had an ax to grind against President-elect Donald Trump during his time at Fox.

It showed it during his coverage, interviews with Trump, and conduct during the 2020 Presidential debate he moderated.

Wallace never found the success or notoriety at CNN that he had when he was at Fox News.

The 77-year-old journalist announced that he was going to go into streaming or podcasting when left CNN.

He cited his bitter rival, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, as one of his inspirations for moving into independent media.

Wallace told The Daily Beast that podcasting is “where the action seems to be” in the media these days.

He pointed to the influence of podcasters like comedian Joe Rogan and urban radio host Charlamagne tha God had during the Presidential election.

“I don’t flatter myself to think I will have that sort of reach,” Wallace said.

Wallace has been in the TV news business since 1973 with stints at ABC and NBC before his nearly two decades at Fox.

“This is the first time in 55 years I‘ve been between jobs,” Wallace explained. “I am actually excited and liberated by that.”

Chris Wallace criticized Tucker Carlson for his views and becoming a podcaster

Wallace criticized Tucker Carlson’s career after leaving Fox News during an interview with Mediaite in October by accusing him of being a conspiracy theorist.

“I think it’s amazing what people will do to find an audience,” Wallace said. “And I think it’s sad that you try to be reasonably straight, and you don’t succeed at that, and fame, attention, notoriety, whatever it is, some people, unfortunately, are willing to do a lot.”

He took another shot at Carlson during an interview on MSNBC’s The Beat

Host Ari Melber asked Wallace to respond to text messages that Carlson sent that were released as part of the lawsuit against Fox News by Dominion Voting Systems.

“My anger at the news channel is pronounced,” Fox News’ Laura Ingraham messaged Carlson in 2020.

“It should be,” Carlson replied. “We devote our lives to building an audience and they let Chris Wallace . . . wreck it.”

Melber asked Wallace for his response.

“Well, I’m employed and Tucker really isn’t anymore. So, that’s part of my response,” Wallace stated. “I had a very good 18-year run at Fox, and they never messed with me the whole time.”

Wallace mocked Tucker Carlson for building a successful career in independent media.

Now, he’s following in his former Fox News rival’s footsteps and moving into the world of podcasting.
