Fetterman supports Trump plan to name Marco Rubio Secretary of State
The New York Times broke the news that Donald Trump reportedly intends to name Florida Senator Marco Rubio as his Secretary of State.
“President-elect Donald J. Trump is expected to name Senator Marco Rubio of Florida as his secretary of state, three people familiar with his thinking said on Monday, as Mr. Trump moves rapidly to fill out his foreign policy and national security team,” The Times exclusively reported.
Rubio is an establishment warmonger who supports a blank check for Ukraine, and war with Iran and Communist China.
The Florida Senator has never opposed U.S. military intervention anywhere and agrees more with Mitt Romney on foreign policy than with Donald Trump’s America First outlook.
Trump’s reported selection of Rubio thrilled the Washington, D.C. swamp.
Democrat John Fetterman was the first out of the gate to not only congratulate Rubio, but to declare that he would vote for Rubio’s confirmation.
“Unsurprisingly, the other team’s pick will have political differences than my own,” Fetterman wrote on X.
“That being said, my colleague @SenMarcoRubio is a strong choice and I look forward to voting for his confirmation,” Fetterman concluded.
But The Times reported that Trump only intends to nominate Rubio for Secretary of State.
Reporter Maggie Haberman posted on social media that Trump left himself an out.
“Unless Trump changes his mind, Rubio is expected to get the nomination,” Haberman posted.
The grassroots not happy
Trump’s base was furious over the selection of Rubio as Secretary of State.
Not only does Rubio support every single war the Washington, D.C. Swamp cooks up, but Rubio also voted for the illegal warrantless spying the Deep State used to surveil Donald Trump and his supporters.

Comedian Dave Smith, a frequent guest on Joe Rogan’s podcast, slammed Rubio as a Liz Cheney acolyte on foreign policy.
“Marco Rubio is a disaster. Might as well give Liz Cheney the State Department. Awful sign,” Smith stated.
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk also wasn’t happy with the pick.
Kirk also could see the groundswell of opposition in the grassroots building to Rubio and told Trump supporters that the pick wasn’t final.
“Folks, word of wisdom. If Trump hasn’t confirmed it on Truth, don’t jump to conclusions and don’t believe everything you see,” Kirk wrote.
Elon Musk and Melania Trump reportedly both pushed for Trump to nominate Ric Grennell as Secretary of State.
Grennell served as Ambassador to Germany and Acting Director of National Intelligence in Trump’s first term.
In those roles, Grennell spoke out against the establishment foreign policy that Rubio supports and backed Donald Trump’s America First agenda abroad.
If the opposition in the grassroots continues to grow, Trump could change his mind and embarrass The New York Times at the same time.
