Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was fuming when she got this nasty surprise about New York

The political winds have shifted after the election.

Democrats are finding themselves in a new political environment.

And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was fuming when she got this nasty surprise about New York.

New York City Mayor wants to change sanctuary city law

New York City is being overwhelmed by the influx of illegal aliens into the city during the Biden-Harris border crisis.

The Big Apple had nearly 200,000 illegal aliens residing there, costing the city nearly $ 4 billion a year.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) is ready to go to war with Democrats on the City Council over illegal aliens.

He’s looking at taking executive action to get around New York’s sanctuary city law.

The Democrat-controlled New York City Council won’t budge on changes to the law.

“I was saying those who are committing crimes in our city must be addressed,” Adams told CBS News New York. “And we should change the current sanctuary city law to address that issue.”

Adams wants to allow local law enforcement to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“Well, the City Council made it clear they don’t want to change that,” Adams continued. “They stated they’re not willing to change the sanctuary city law. I think they’re wrong. I have my teams looking at my power as executive orders.”

New York City has dealt with a crime wave from illegal aliens who’ve arrived in the city.

In a sign of the shifting political winds, a Democrat Mayor is ready to work with ICE to deal with illegal aliens who commit crimes.

Adams is going to meet with President-elect Donald Trump’s new “Border Czar” Tom Homan about cooperating with ICE on deporting illegal aliens who commit crimes.

“I want to be able to sit down with the ‘Border Czar,’ and say, here’s my concern. And we’re looking at ways that I could use my executive power to go after those dangerous, dangerous, violent people,” Adams stated.

More New York Democrats push for drastic action on illegal immigration

Adams’ tough talk about cracking down on illegal aliens who commit crimes isn’t enough for one Democrat on the New York City Council.

New York Democrat Council Member Robert Holden wants Adams to use his Charter Revision Commission to put a referendum for voters to overturn the sanctuary city law.

“Tough talk is good, but actions speak louder,” Holden said. “The Mayor had the chance to amend or repeal sanctuary city laws through his Charter Revision Commission but chose not to.”

Holden wanted even more cooperation with ICE than Adams proposed.

“Now, it’s time to right these wrongs,” Holden continued. “To truly show commitment to public safety, Mayor Adams should reopen the ICE office at Rikers Island and give the NYPD, DOC [Department of Corrections], and DOP [Department of Probation] the ability to communicate with ICE and honor detainers for criminal migrants.”

Donald Trump won the biggest victory for a Republican Presidential candidate since the 1980s with a tough stance against illegal immigration.

The mood of the country has shifted when a deep blue city like New York has Democrats who are ready to do something about illegal aliens.
