Tim Walz continues to show why he’s been one of the worst running mate selections in Presidential campaign history.
Walz can’t even handle interviews in friendly settings.
And Jon Stewart trapped Tim Walz with one brutal question about Liz Cheney.
Tim Walz bombs Daily Show interview
There is hardly a friendlier setting for a member of a Democrat Presidential ticket than Comedy Central’s The Daily Show.
Longtime host Jon Stewart is on the same team, and he isn’t going to do anything to jeopardize Kamala Harris’ chances of victory.
But that safety net wasn’t enough to protect Tim Walz from crashing and burning.
Walz showed up on The Daily Show as part of the final sprint to Election Day.
Stewart, however, couldn’t help himself.
Disgraced RINO former Congresswoman Liz Cheney campaigned with Kamala Harris in Michigan and Wisconsin.
Stewart turned The Daily Show into the go-to news show for Democrats in the early aughts with nightly jeremiads opposing the Iraq War and the Bush administration’s policies in the War on Terror.
And for Stewart, Liz Cheney – whose father Dick served as Vice President and shaped the Iraq War – appearing on stage with Kamala Harris was a bridge too far.
“The Cheney thing . . .” Stewart began. “Do we really have to do that?”
Walz managed to offend Stewart with his answer, where he proceeded to compare Liz and Dick Cheney endorsing Kamala Harris to Taylor Swift supporting the Democrats.
“It goes broader than that,” Walz stammered. “Look, Bernie Sanders, Dick Cheney, Taylor Swift.”
Stewart couldn’t talk anymore.
“No, no, no!” Stewart interjected. “You can’t ‘Dick Cheney or Taylor Swift.’ No!”
“We’re a big tent!” Walz shot back.
That was when Stewart put any talk of comparing Dick Cheney and Taylor Swift to rest.
“What country did Taylor Swift get us to invade?!” Stewart shot back.
Tim Walz claims Constitutional conservatives will now back Kamala Harris
Walz then tried to defend Dick and Liz Cheney supporting Kamala Harris using the Left’s favorite catchphrase about how the Cheneys will create a “permission structure” for conservatives who care about the Constitution to vote Democrat for the first time in their lives.
“There are a lot of people out there – I think Liz Cheney and Dick Cheney give permission to those folks who want to find a reason to do the right thing,” Walz began.
Walz tried to appease Stewart by claiming the Cheney’s wouldn’t influence foreign policy in a potential Kamala Harris administration.
But one reason Liz Cheney felt comfortable endorsing Kamala Harris is because Kamala Harris and Liz Cheney agreed on a blank check for the war in Ukraine.
“It doesn’t mean they agree with us. We’re not going to take their foreign policy decisions and discussions and implement those,” Walz claimed.
And the idea that conservatives will now support Kamala Harris because of the Cheneys struck many as daffy.
Dick Cheney is the father of the so-called “PATRIOT” Act, which shredded the Constitution with the type of warrantless domestic spying that the Biden-Kamala Harris administration used to target Donald Trump, his staff, and many of his supporters.
