But a helicopter pilot flying rescue missions got this unthinkable order from Kamala Harris.
Brave men and women lead rescue missions in North Carolina
Western North Carolina was devastated by historic flooding caused by Hurricane Helene.
The rugged terrain of the Appalachian Mountains cut off towns from the outside world.
Residents were stranded and the federal government was nowhere to be found for more than a week.
Private citizens answered the call of duty and began leading rescue missions to evacuate people and drop off supplies.
South Carolina resident Jordan Seidhom and his son Landon decided that they had to take action after hearing about a family stranded without water on a mountain in Banner Elk, North Carolina.
“I thought, I have a helicopter, maybe I can help,” Seidhom told Queen City News.
He flew water and supplies out to the family with his son.
That’s when they decided to start flying search-and-rescue missions with hundreds missing and countless residents stranded in the devastated Lake Lure area of North Carolina.
On that same Saturday, the father and son rescued four people who were trapped.
“They only had one day of supplies, which was gone by Saturday,” Seidhom said. “They didn’t have any food, water, no running water, no power. And we were coming back this direction anyway, so we actually took them to Charlotte-Douglas Airport and they were able to fly home from there.”
Seidhom and his son went back on Sunday and rescued a husband and wife.
He left his son behind to make room for the couple because he was in a small helicopter.
“I originally left my son, copilot, on the side of the mountain,” Seidhom recalled. “[The helicopter] was kind of unstable, so I didn’t want to put more weight on the helicopter to lift it back off. So, I left my son with the other victim. And I was just going to take one person down at the time.”
Helicopter pilot threatened with arrest
Seidhom was going to fly back for his son and the other victim when a Lake Lure fire official threatened to have him arrested for performing the rescue missions.
“I explained to him that I left my son on the side of the mountain, and I left another victim,” Seidhom said. “I was going to go back and bring them, it was already set up for the landing spot and then I would get out of his area. He told me I wasn’t going to go back up the mountain to get them, I was going to leave them there.”
The fire official wouldn’t budge.
He flew in and got his son and told the husband he would be left behind.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) put a temporary flight restriction over the Lake Lure area.
FAA officials lifted the restriction, but the damage was already done.
Seidhom believes that people were put in danger by the Biden-Harris administration’s FAA.
“I can only imagine what the people were thinking,” Seidhom stated. “You’ve been stranded for 24, 36 hours. No way to speak with anyone. You don’t know what’s going on and you see a lifeline fly over and they keep going. I can only imagine what they were thinking.”
“If I had to do it over again, I wouldn’t have stopped and I would have rescued as many people until they decided they were going to arrest me,” Seidhom added.
The Biden-Harris administration is stopping stranded Americans from being rescued and putting lives in danger.
