Victims of the border crisis testify to Congress
The Biden-Harris administration’s border crisis has a very real human cost.
Violent crimes committed by illegal aliens and lethal drugs like fentanyl have shattered the lives of far too many families.
The House Judiciary Committee led by Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) brought family members who lost loved ones to a crime committed by an illegal alien.
A hearing titled The Biden-Harris Border Crisis: Victim Perspectives featured heart-wrenching testimonies about the heinous crimes that occurred because of the open border.
Four mothers ripped the Biden-Harris administration for allowing violent criminals to cross the southern border.
Patty Morin’s daughter Rachel Morin was sexually assaulted and murdered by an illegal alien from El Salvador while jogging in Maryland last year.
Morin’s murderer fled El Salvador because he was wanted on murder charges there.
“Do you think it’s worse, and do you think it can get even worse than it is now?” Representative Dan Bishop (R-NC) asked Morin during the hearing.
“I think if things continue we’re going to have a war on our soil,” Morin replied.
“This crisis is deadly. It’s unsustainable and only getting worse,” Bishop said. “And it was all completely avoidable.”
Morin said that she was shocked by some of the changes she’s seen from illegal immigration around the country.
“I was just telling one of the gentlemen that I was at the border, I met some folks at the border, I saw who lives at the border,” Morin said. “I was also up in New England a week ago, and I was surprised at the amount of immigrants from the Congo, and from Sudan, and from South America in northern New England. That’s unheard of. In Massachusetts, they’ve spent over $1.5 billion.”
Murderers are being released into the country
Alexis Nungaray told the committee that she put her 12-year-old daughter Jocelyn to bed to never see her again.
“She was there when I closed my eyes that night,” Nungaray said. “That Monday morning, when I opened my eyes, she was gone.”
Jocelyn snuck out to get a drink at a convenience store when she was abducted by two illegal aliens from Venezuela.
“That Monday morning, June 17th, was terrifying,” Nungaray recalled. “Waking up to know your child was missing and frantically searching the area where her phone was being pinged just two minutes away from her home, driving up to that exact location to see crime scene tape and officers by a bridge.”
Jocelyn was sexually assaulted and murdered.
The two illegal aliens had been apprehended at the border and released just weeks before.
“Because of the Biden-Harris administration open border policies, catch and release, they were enrolled in the Alternatives to Detention program,” Nungaray testified. “This meant that they were released into the United States. It was not even a full three weeks later that they would take my daughter Jocelyn Nungaray’s life.”
The Biden-Harris administration’s open border policies are inflicting incredible suffering on the country.
