The debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is in the books.
Maybe the biggest story coming out of the event was the comical levels of media bias.
And CNN told this nasty lie about the debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
CNN’s fact checkers spreads misinformation about the debate
Left-wing activist Daniel Dale masquerades as a so-called “fact checker.”
Critics contend Dale is one of the pre-eminent practitioners of the genre of partisan hacks who claim to be arbiters of “truth” by simply claiming everything Donald Trump and other Republicans say is a lie because it undercuts the Democrat Party’s talking points.
Dale turned in a trademark performance of misleading viewers after the debate when he claimed Donald Trump told 33 lies and that Kamala Harris told at least one.
Kamala Harris told far more than one lie.
By using the “+” sign after one, CNN could plausibly run a graphic they can claim they accurately reported Kamala Harris lied more than once, but could use the graphic to draw viewers’ attention and give the impression she turned in an honest performance.
The only lie Dale called Kamala Harris out on was the claim that “ Donald Trump left us the worst unemployment since the Great Depression.”
Unemployment sat at 6.4% when Trump left office.
The unemployment rate was 8.3% in Barack Obama’s first full month in office back in February 2009.
And the unemployment rate spiked to 10% in October 2009.
Lies CNN ignored
Breitbart News cataloged 21 different lies and hoaxes and Kamala Harris told during the debate.
Kamala Harris repeated the “very fine people” hoax from the aftermath of the Charlottesville incident in 2017.
“Let’s remember Charlottesville, where there was a mob of people carrying tiki torches, spewing antisemitic hate, and what did the president then at the time say? There were fine people on each side,” Kamala Harris incorrectly stated.
The leftwing fact-checking blog Snopes published an updated fact check in June 2024 admitting once and for all that Donald Trump never called white supremacists or Neo-Nazis “very fine people.”
“We looked into these claims, and found that while Trump did say there were ‘very fine people on both sides,’ meaning both the protesters and the counter protesters, he also condemned neo-Nazis and white nationalists outright and said he was specifically referring to those who were there only to participate in the statue protest . . .” Snopes admitted.
“In sum, while Trump did say that there were ‘very fine people on both sides,’ he also specifically noted that he was not talking about neo-Nazis and white supremacists and said they should be ‘condemned totally.’ Therefore, we have rated this claim ‘False,’” the Snopes fact check read.
Kamala Harris also falsely claimed Donald Trump called for a “bloodbath” in America if he lost the election as a way to gin up fear Trump would lead a violent movement to contest the election.
“And be clear on that point. Donald Trump the candidate has said in this election there will be a bloodbath, if this — and the outcome of this election is not to his liking,” Kamala Harris falsely claimed.
Trump actually warned of a “bloodbath” in the auto industry if he lost and couldn’t deploy tariffs that stop Communist China and Mexico from shipping cheap cars into the country and undercutting domestic auto production.
“We’re going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not going to be able to sell those cars. If I get elected. Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath, for the whole — that’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country. That’ll be the least of it. But they’re not going to sell those cars,” Trump said at a rally in Michigan.
Polls showed viewers thought Kamala Harris won the debate.
Viewers got that impression because the moderators relentlessly fact-checked Donald Trump and let Kamala Harris lie with impunity.
