San Francisco wants to pay the homeless to stay sober
San Francisco, California has become a national disgrace.
The city has become the proving ground for virtually every awful idea that Democrats want to bring to the rest of the country.
Out-of-control crime, open-air drug use, and a massive homeless population have become a part of everyday life in San Francisco.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed (D) and San Francisco Board of Supervisors member Matt Dorsey came up with a loony idea to deal with the rampant drug problem in the city.
They proposed a bill called Cash Not Drugs that would pay drug addicts on welfare $100 a week in the form of a gift or extra benefits to pass a drug test.
Breed’s theory is that rewarding good behavior would encourage more addicts to get clean.
“The underlining principle of ‘Cash Not Drugs’ is a simple one. A humane and effective approach to San Franscip’s drug crisis should also include rewarding good behavior and not just punishing bad behavior,” Dorsey said.
Dorsey overcame a battle with addiction, and Breed’s sister died of a drug overdose.
“I want to make it just as easy to get treatment as it is to go out there and buy dope,” Breed said. “Whatever it takes to get people on the right path — that’s what we need to do.”
No one seemed to think about the inherent problem with giving drug-addicted welfare recipients extra money.
Local residents didn’t think the proposed bill would change anything.
San Francisco resident Salvatore Zucco said the bill might work in the short term, but eventually, addiction would win out.
Zucco said he spends $100 every day on fentanyl.
Local resident Jonathan Broomfield told KTVU FOX 2 that he would need at least $300 to consider signing up for the proposed program.
Many of the hard drugs that have flooded the streets of San Francisco don’t stay in someone’s system long enough to show up on a drug test after more than a couple of days.
Giving gift cards or extra benefits to drug addicts is the definition of irresponsible.
Kamala Harris has a weird problem
Vice President Kamala Harris began her political career as a pro-crime District Attorney in San Francisco.
Her campaign and its public relations team in the media are attacking former President Donald Trump and his running mate, U.S. Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH), as “weird.”
And Harris has reinvented herself as a tough-on-crime prosecutor.
But San Francisco – the city where Harris cut her teeth – is weird.
There is nothing normal about rampant crime and having the city become a giant drug din.
Harris is a far-left San Francisco Democrat who wants to hide her political past.
She wants to take the weird, failed socialist policies of San Francisco and force them on the rest of the country.
