Applebee’s is trying to cement its status as one of the best casual dining chains to have a good time.
The neighborhood bar and grill delivered what fans had been hoping to see once again.
And Applebee’s brought back this fan-favorite promotion to get the party started this spring.
The legendary Dollarita is coming back to Applebee’s
Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar sent shockwaves when it first introduced the Dollarita in 2017.
For one dollar, customers could pick a margarita in a ten-ounce glass.
It’s been a limited-time-only promotion since then over the years, much to the disappointment of its legion of fans.
Now the Dollarita is back again for the month of May at Applebee’s.
And the chain has upgraded it to a 12-ounce glass.
Thirsty fans can choose between the classic margarita made with tequila, triple sec, and lime, or pick from strawberry or mango flavors.
And for the upgraded margarita experience, Applebee’s partnered with actor and WWE star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul to use their premium tequilas in a pair of limited-time margaritas.
The $5 Rock & Berry Rita, a strawberry margarita made with Johnson’s Teremana Blanco Tequila served in a mucho glass.
Or the $9 Breaking Rock Rita, made with Paul and Cranston’s Dos Hombres Mezcal and Teremana Tequila mixed with blue curacao, lime, and a rock candy garnish.
Applebee’s is also introducing their new Chicken & Bacon Loaded Fries to serve as an appetizer.
“We’re bringing back everyone’s favorite $1 margarita just in time for Cinco de Mayo,” Applebee’s Bar & Beverage executive director Nathan Glover said in a press release. “Whether toasting with our classic DOLLARITA or sipping on our premium spirited Rock & Berry Rita or Breaking Rock Rita, Applebee’s has all your margarita bases covered. Grab your friends, order some drinks and appetizers – like our NEW Chicken & Bacon Loaded Fries – and sip your way to summer!”
The dollar menu at fast food restaurants is long gone but for one dollar you can still get a margarita at Applebee’s.
And sporting events and concerts are now charging $20 for a beer in many places.
That’s why the Dollarita remains one of the best values for anyone looking for an adult beverage.
The Dollarita has become a massive hit for Applebee’s
Applebee’s introduced the Dollarita in 2017 to help turn the store’s fortunes around in 2017 by highlighting the bar aspect of the chain.
The chain had closed almost 130 restaurants in the years preceding its release but the excitement it generated helped boost sales by 5.5% in the year it came out.
Some locations had to bring on extra employees just to handle the demand for Dollaritas.
Applebee’s chief marketing officer Joel Yashinsky said it helped turn the brand around in an interview last year.
“The Dollarita really spurred a resurgence for our brand. It was coming off of a couple difficult years, and the entire category was being challenged at the time,” Yashinsky said. “It helped kick off a newfound energy for the brand, which we’ve leveraged in the past five, six years.”
